SCH Customer Contact Centre
The Interior Design Team were delighted to be approached by our long-term partners, Solihull Community Housing, to re-locate their front-line staff in Chelmsley Wood Town Centre. Strategic Land have developed the design for the Cat B Fit Out of two retail units as high-quality front-line space alongside flexible workspace for their housing office team. The vibrant inviting spaces create a much-needed solution to their current cramped premises in Chelmsley Wood Town Centre and seeks to raise the morale of their hard-working team of staff.
The two vacant units are located within The Bluebell Centre, a large, covered shopping mall in Chelmsley Wood Town Centre that Building Design Studio were involved in the design of during its construction in 2009. The units are still in shell and core conditions, the internal alternations involve breaking through to form one single unit.
The scheme has been developed in response to extensive consultation with the client and end-users. Careful consideration of layout, lighting, existing brand identity & colour palette, furniture and fittings was required by our team of experienced designers. The result is a strong cohesive visual identity for the Customer Contact Centre which reflects the aspirations of the client and promotes best use of the space available.
· Public facilities are to include:
Customer waiting space (10 persons), small toddler play area, Self-serve booths, Reception desk, semi-open interview pods for informal consultations and enclosed interview rooms for more sensitive interviews where acoustic separation is required.
· Private facilities are to include:
Agile working desks to accommodate 16 staff members, 1 Head of Service office, a Meeting Room for 6 persons, Tea Point and Breakout Area.
We took the role of lead consultant and are providing the Architectural, Interior and Quantity Surveying services. The acoustic performance of the contact centre is paramount, so the designers have worked closely with an acoustic consultant to provide acoustic separation wherever required. Building Design Studio are working alongside Solihull Council’s framework contractor to deliver the scheme.
As the shopping centre is to remain open for the duration of the works, careful consideration and planning is required to ensure the safety of the general public during the construction contract. Coordination and communication with the Landlord has also been an essential part of the project
